Jesus of the Cross Montiel Ruiz (Piti) will announce the Fiestas 2018 on September 15 (Saturday), at 10 pm, at the Cervantes Theater.

The Department of Cultural Promotion Abarán City Council has reported that our countryman Jesus de la Cruz Montiel (Piti), Abarán City Council official, a great fan of video and photography and author of numerous posters announcing different events and cultural events related to our locality, will be in charge of proclaiming the Fiestas de Abarán 2018.

Known by all, Piti is an abaranero committed and delivered with the festivities, customs and traditions of our people.

He is one of the founding members of the Centro de Estudios Abaraneros.

Among his hobbies, photography, with more than 25 years dedicated to capture and promote our parties, people, landscapes, etc.

Music is another of his hobbies.

He is a component and current president of the 'Amigos de la Zarzuela' Association of Abarán;

member of the "David Templado" Choir of the parish of San Pablo and of the Ars Nova de Cieza Choir.

Collaborator and driving force of the lyric genre (La Zarzuela) in Abarán during the last 40 years.

Propeller and 'guilty' that for seven years, Abarán will count, for the first time in history, with performances of operas, thanks to Leonor Gago, of the company 'Concerlírica Internacional'.

After the opening speech, a concert of Zarzuela, Opera and Popular Song will be offered by the Tenores, Carlos Moreno (Abarán), Javier Ferrer (Madrid) and the sopranos Liesel Oquendo (Cuba) and Carmen Sánchez (Murcia).
