The environmental organization blames the municipality of Abarán for the mismanagement of facilities in which 230,000 euros were invested to improve the selective collection of waste in the municipality.
Ecologistas en Acción has denounced the poor state of the Ecoparque de Abarán, and the deficient management of waste that is being done in these facilities.
The environmental organization has recalled that in 2011, the Autonomous Community delivered to the town hall an Ecopark to improve the selective collection of waste in the town;
facilities that involved an investment of 230,000 [1] €, and that "to this day it shows an unfortunate state of abandonment and deterioration."
In its letter of complaint, which has been sent to the Directorate General of Quality and Environmental Assessment of the Autonomous Community and SEPRONA (Service of Nature Protection), the environmental organization explains that "in the facilities accumulated debris deposited in a uncontrolled on the outside, and also next to the door and fence of the enclosure.
The latter, possibly, point, as a consequence of the fact that there is no opening hours for the public, a situation that has been occurring at least since 2016 "
They also denounce the continuous fires that are occurring in the Ecopark.
The last took place in December last year, just three months after another major fire that in August burned the waste that accumulated in the area and affected part of a facility that still shows signs of the fires suffered.
Ecologistas en Acción explains that "it is the local entities that hold the competences in the matter of waste management, and that it is therefore the municipality that has the responsibility to promote measures to ensure that the management of the waste that reaches the eco-park, is carried out without putting at risk neither the environment nor human health, something that currently does not happen ".
Finally, the environmental organization also claims in its brief to adopt measures to improve the deficient waste management carried out in the Ecoparque, and has also requested that surveillance be increased in the area to eliminate uncontrolled dumping and fires.
