The proposed energy efficiency measures will allow savings of more than 16,000 euros per year and a reduction of CO2 emissions equivalent to a dozen cars circulating for a year
The Community, through the Institute of Development (Info), has carried out an energy audit in five municipal buildings in Abarán in which they propose a series of efficiency measures that would reduce the electricity bill of the municipality at 16,667 euros, which Savings of 22 percent over current spending.
The measures proposed in the audit carried out under the European project Elena-Fuensanta (European Local Energy Assistance), would also mean a reduction of emissions of 18 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to a dozen vehicles circulating for a year.
The Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, Juan Hernández, delivered today the results of this energy audit to the mayor of the town, Jesus Molina.
"With its participation in this project, Abarán City Council acquires a firm and solid commitment to leave a sustainable legacy to the next generations. This energy audit has analyzed the energy consumption of five municipal buildings, the Consistorial House, the Primary and Secondary School (CEIP) Juan XXIII, the municipal sports center and swimming pool and the building of the Integrated Multifunctional Center of Abarán (CIMA).
After the analysis of the same, the energy audit proposes a series of actions of saving and energy efficiency as the change to the LED technology, the implantation of presence sensors for the control of the illumination or the adjustment of the contracted power.
All these actions would involve a total investment of 47,335 euros, which would achieve a saving of 16,667 euros per year, which represents 22% of the current energy cost of the five buildings audited.
In addition to the economic savings for the municipal coffers, these energy efficiency measures would mean a reduction of emissions of 18 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to the emissions that would produce ten vehicles circulating for a whole year.
Project Elena-Fuensanta
The City Council of Abarán thus becomes one of the 16 municipalities of the Region that have already joined the European project Elena-Fuensanta, which is financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
In the current year, this project has already made it possible to mobilize an investment of more than 17.7 million euros, which has already exceeded the goal set by Europe to mobilize 15 million euros in energy efficiency investments , Will also mean a saving in the medium term of more than two million euros and will allow the creation of more than 300 jobs in the Region.
With regard to emission reduction, all energy efficiency and renewable energy measures implemented or committed by the municipalities attached to the project will help to stop the emission of a total of 5,541 tonnes of polluting gases each year, An amount equivalent to the emissions of more than 3,000 cars circulating during a year by the roads of the Region.
