The Community finances this year with 1.5 million services for vulnerable people in Abarán (23/03/2018)

The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today, along with the mayor of Abarán, José Miguel Manzanares, the residence of elderly person 'Nicolás Gómez Tornero' and reported on the actions of support for people with disabilities, people elderly and reconciliation of family and work life that the Community finances in 2018 in the municipality with an amount of 1,540,809 euros.

Of this amount, the Community will allocate 1,082,055 euros to the agreement of places for 249 elderly people of the municipality, both in residence, day center or home help.

Specifically, in the residence 'Nicolás Gómez Tornero', the offer of agreed places reaches 26 and the subsidy received for this is 408,000 euros.

The counselor explained that "the care of people in situations of dependency and the promotion of their personal autonomy constitute one of the main challenges of social policy."

In addition, he recalled that "these people, because they are in a situation of special vulnerability, require support to develop the essential activities of daily life."

Violante Tomás highlighted the "excellent coordination" of the IMAS with the municipal social services of Abarán, "which facilitates and streamlines the management of dependency files," he explained.

The Social Services of Primary Care of the municipality will have an endowment of 137,913 euros and the counselor recalled that the attention to the groups that deserve a special protection "is a priority of the regional government".

In this sense, the counselor pointed out that the Primary Care Social Services ensure the attention, promotion and insertion of people who present social needs such as absences of vital minimums, situations of dependency or processes of social exclusion.

The counselor explained that "the aid of his department is used to finance the maintenance of professionals and involve a very important budget injection for the municipality."

People with disabilities

With regard to people with disabilities, more than 295,000 euros are allocated for the Center for Child Development and Early Care, with 140 users, the Day Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities La Noria, with 20 contracted places, and the subsidy for maintenance of activities and services of the Association of physically disabled Abarán (ADFA), which has 349 users.

On the other hand, the Community will allocate more than 30,000 euros to Abarán City Council to develop actions that cover the basic needs of families of people with disabilities, and serve to alleviate and improve the situation of social vulnerability, covering their basic needs.

Aid for the energy poverty program is also included.

The aid distributed by the City Council is intended for families with children and cover needs for food, hygiene or clothing, among others.

In addition, they facilitate access to other services such as health, education (school material, aid for dining), housing (rent and improvement of living conditions of housing and supplies) and employment;

as well as the accompaniment and social work with the families and to finance programs of support to the family and work conciliation for people in processes of social-labor insertion with children in their charge.
