Fifteen unemployed Abarán are trained to work in the gardening sector with a Community program (28/03/2018)

The initiative has been financed by the Employment and Training Service with 222,330 euros

A total of 15 unemployed between 25 and 54 years of Abarán have been trained to work in the sector of gardening with a program of the Community that for a year has alternated training with paid employment.

The initiative, called 'Los Vergeles', has had a grant from the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, through the Employment and Training Service (SEF), of 223,330 euros.

In particular, these students have been trained in the specialty of installation and maintenance of gardens that, in addition to theoretical training, has given them a paid work opportunity participating in the refurbishment of a new garden of the municipality that is inaugurated today with the name of John Paul II.

Thus, and coinciding with the inauguration of this new space, participants today received their corresponding certificate of professionalism, which is valid throughout the country and significantly increases their chances of finding a new job.

The event was attended by the general director of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, and the mayor of Abarán, José Miguel Manzanares.

With this diploma in the specialty of installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas, students now have the opportunity to work as farm laborers, garden laborers and nursery laborers, or opt for self-employment by creating their own gardening company.

During the delivery of diplomas, Zamora highlighted the double usefulness of these programs "since, on the one hand, they contribute to boost employment by training the unemployed in the sectors that are creating employment in each of the municipalities where they are developed, and on the other, they redound in the benefit of the localities and their inhabitants by allowing the town halls to undertake works and services of public and social interest ".

During the first phase of the program, the participants approached the contents of this specialty during three months of theoretical training, and in the following nine months they were hired by the City Council of Abarán to complete the eminently practical part of this training action.

In this second part, the students, in addition to performing maintenance and improvement of the green areas of the municipality, participated in the refurbishment of the new garden of the town, which has about 650 square meters, groves of various species, automated irrigation and urban furniture.

More than 5 million to boost employment in the municipalities

The Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, through the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF), this year has allocated 5,414,635 euros to subsidize a new call for mixed employment and training programs, which will allow 400 unemployed to learn a trade combining theoretical classes and paid work experience performing works or services of social interest in the municipalities of the Region.

These programs, which last between nine and twelve months, cover a wide variety of specialties in sectors of the local area in which it is detected that there is a demand for professionals, such as, for example, the maintenance of green areas, the revitalization of activities of free time, socio-health care for dependents and basic restaurant and bar operations, among others.
