The Mayor and Social Policy Minister inaugurated the course of the Universidad Internacional del Mar (13/07/2010)

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez, and the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, inaugurated yesterday the course "Women in rural areas" that the International University of the Sea provides 12 to 16 July in the municipality and seeks to highlight the situation of women in rural areas as well as changes in the rural areas of the Region of Murcia.

Gomez said that this year has paid particular attention to the role of women as a dynamic engine of sustainable rural development and economic, social and cultural.

The course, with the assistance of some 60 students, focuses on issues such as the role of institutions in rural development, the situation of women, rural entrepreneurs and women's associations in rural areas.

Also, includes visits to farms Cagitán field and lodgings "El Campillo White" and a tour of the Route of Abarán Norias.

Antonio Eugenio Gómez and Joaquín Bascuñana were accompanied in the presentation of Francisco Guillermo Díaz Baños, Vice Chancellor of University Extension, University of Murcia, Francisco Carreño Riquelme Sandoval and José Prudencio Perea, co-directors of the course, and José Luis Tornero Carpena Councillor for Local Development, Employment, Education and Youth of the City of Abarán.

Pedroza Andres Canovas, professor of the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Murcia, delivered later, the inaugural conference.
