Jumilla hosted the regional championship Team Chess Federation Cup 2011 (01/02/2011)

The rooms of Hotel Monreal de Jumilla welcomed last Sunday, January 30, Regional Championship Team "Federation Cup" in the form of Active Chess (20 minutes per player plus 10 seconds of delay per move).

The competition featured 118 players in 25 teams representing almost all the clubs in the region, among which was the Abarán Chess School.

The tournament was held to seven rounds very competitive, with just a point of difference between the top three finishers.

The WILLOW "A" of Cartagena became champion with a total of 20.5 points, followed by CA TOTANA, which received 19.5, the same as the third place (the Mar Menor "A").

In category A, the first place was the LORCA "E" which militates International Master Alfredo Giaccio.

In category B, the champion was the CHESS COIMBRA, Jumilla with a total of 15.5 points.

Besides the cash prizes, the organization delivered two separate trophies to the top three finishers in the general category and the first of the categories A and B, and also gave all participants with a wedge of cheese from Jumilla.

Members of the Regional Federation of Chess stressed "the normal development of this event in relation to the field of sport, and that just took the intervention of referees" and "the excellent organization" conducted by the Chess Club Coimbra of Jumilla.

The president of the Chess Federation of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Gallego, accompanied by the councilman of Sports City of Jumilla, José Luis Monreal Thomas and the President of the AD Coimbra, Francisco Javier Siguenza, presented the prizes to the participants .
