The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, accompanied by the mayor of Abarán, Antonio Eugenio Gómez, today inaugurated the eco-park located on the Place de Las Colonias of the municipality that serves 13,000 residents and covers a total area of over 2,000 square meters .

Cerdá stressed the importance of this infrastructure that ensures that residues do not fit into conventional containers "are removed by authorized agents that recycled or processed as appropriate."

The new eco-park will also help to "increase recycling rates and reduce the uncontrolled dumping of waste from large," he said.

He said that with this, there are now 69 municipal parks that make up the Green Points Regional Network of which 41 are fixed and 28 mobile.

The Abarán ecopark an investment of 230,000 euros funded 80 percent with funds from the European Union and 20 per cent equity of the region.

Sealing and landscape restoration of the landfill

The Minister of Agriculture and the municipal mayor also visited the stabilization work, sealed and landscape restoration of Abarán waste dump, which are in their final phase and has involved an investment of 320,000 euros financed by 80 percent European funds.
