Improvement of road infrastructure in Abarán (23/04/2009)

The Ministry of Public Works of the Autonomous Community of Murcia will invest 2.3 million euros in infrastructure improvements in Abarán that will avoid retention in the urban core, improving road safety and to optimize the connection Abarán municipalities of Vega Alta, as noted by the Minister José Ballesta on his visit to Abarán.

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, visited Abarán to celebrate the Board of pubic works which has involved the mayor of the municipality, Antonio Eugenio Gómez.

Ballesta previously held a meeting with the mayor of Abarán in which members of the management team of the Ministry of Public Works, councilors and City Council Abarán.

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gomez said at that meeting "the corporation has passed every one of the requirements that the municipality is in urban planning, infrastructure, sustainability and spatial planning."

Ballesta said he had been an "intense working meeting between the management team of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning and the municipal corporation in which they have reviewed all the needs that affect the powers of the Ministry, and whose meeting draws a key conclusion is that over the next months are going to invest about 2.3 billion euros in the municipality of Abarán. "

The Minister of Public Works reported on the distribution of 2,348,474 euros to be spent on improving road infrastructure Abarán, where they will conduct a series of actions that will enhance communications and increase the municipal road safety for drivers and pedestrians.

The counselor brought forward by five of the proceedings will be carried out on the road RM-513, one of the main thoroughfares of the town which connects the town with the N-301 (Madrid-Cartagena).

"These projects will avoid the retention by the municipality's urban core, improve circulation, increase road safety and optimize Abarán connection with the municipalities of Vega Alta" he said.

One of the most prominent projects is the improvement of the voyage of the RM-513, in which the Ministry will fund 90 percent of the total construction cost, amounting to 788,591 euros, while the City of Abarán paid on 10 per cent.

The work, which affects the urban stretch of the road which was ceded by the Autonomous Community to the consistory, would be the overall improvement of the way through the pavement strengthening, construction of sidewalks, replacement of street furniture and installation new lighting systems.

Another action that Public Works will run in the RM-513 is the installation of fall protection systems.

The project, which has already been written, affects the first kilometer of the road and has a budget of 332,705 euros.

The Directorate General of Highways has drafted a project for the rectification of curves and the improvement of the road platform RM B-17, which connects White Abarán through an investment of 250,597 euros.

Councilor José Ballesta also reported that three projects in which the Highways Agency is currently working on and that will be developed in the medium term, with an estimated investment of one million euros: the strengthening of the road to RM-513 traffic in the area of San José Artesano, improving the visibility of access to ABARE this road and the widening of the RM A-10, which connects the road to Sell Necklace N-344 (Almería-Valencia).

José Ballesta explained the feelings of the Governing Board of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning and defined the corporation as a role model when submitting applications and projects with rigor and study.

Traffic lights that adapt to traffic

Other actions foreseen in the road is the regularization traffic lights in the intersection of Avenida de Cieza, linking urban centers Abarán and Cieza.

This is one of the busiest intersections of the two municipalities, with a capacity of over 300 vehicles per hour, so that the measures have a direct impact on the congestion in the area and the safety of pedestrian crossings that occurring in the environment.

The project, which will be hired over the coming months for an amount of 55,440, was carried out using a novel system for real-time detectors that regulates the function of the traffic light at any given time, allowing the transit of pedestrians and drivers in complete safety.

Stimulus to employment with the Plan Fix

The director and the mayor of the municipality owned dwellings visited the Institute and Land in the Region of Murcia, located in the suburb of San José Artesano, which will be rehabilitated in the coming months with an investment of 200,000 euros from the Plan Fix regional administration, which will be rehabilitated over 900 properties through an extraordinary contribution of 1.8 million euros.

"This action, which will in Abarán the rehabilitation of a group of 52 houses belonging to the regional public park, will improve the living conditions of the buildings and ensure that a tenant families the right to enjoy decent housing, while that will enable the creation of new jobs in the town, "said José Ballesta.
