One of the works will allow the water to be redirected from La Hoya del Campo and San José Artesano to the treatment plant, and the other will connect the homes in the vicinity of the municipal park to the general network
They will involve an investment of 240,000 euros and will serve 3,500 inhabitants
The Community will build two new sanitary sewers in Abarán that will allow the renewal of the network in the main access to the urban area and in the municipal park, with an investment of 240,000 euros.
These infrastructures will serve more than 3,500 inhabitants.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Ángel del Amor, visited today the land where the works of the collector of the entrance of the municipality will be carried out, in which 200,000 euros will be invested.
"The improvement of the service is very necessary since this network is in charge of redirecting the waters from the districts of La Hoya del Campo and San José Artesano to the municipal treatment plant," said Del Amor.
The collector, which will have a length of 1.3 kilometers, will prevent possible breakdowns caused by losses, leaks and jams in that first section.
Also, the Minister recalled that "several sections of this area have already been repaired," and stressed "the commitment of the regional government to continue carrying out actions in Abarán, proof of this is the investment of 40,000 euros in a second collector that will connect the zone of the municipal park and the houses adjoining the general network ".
Improvement of the path of Candelón
Also, during the visit to Abarán, the counselor supervised the refurbishment work, already completed, on the road to Candelón, which covers 1.1 kilometers in length, and which has involved an investment of 40,500 euros.
Del Amor indicated that "it is a priority to improve rural roads that facilitate mobility in rural areas and access to agricultural properties."
These actions are part of the Rural Roads Plan of the Region of Murcia for the period 2014-2020 and are financed by European Feader funds (63 percent), by the Autonomous Community (25.9 percent), and by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (11.1 percent).
Leader aids
In addition, in order to improve different areas of the municipality and promote the cultural and natural heritage of the area, the Abarán City Council has received 125,257 euros of Leader aid, within the Rural Development Program (PDR) managed by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing, in order to develop three projects.
The financing of the RDP grants comes from the European Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which contributes 63 percent of the amount, and from the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, which co-finances the remaining 27 percent.
