The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m., at the Municipal Library of Abarán
The jury of the "I short journalist Pedro Soler short story contest" has awarded the first prize of this contest -convealed by the City Council of Abarán, the Cajamurcia Foundation and La Verdad- to José Carlos Losada Díaz, professor of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation from the University of Murcia, for the work entitled Profession, butcher.
The winning story, endowed with 800 euros, will be published in La Verdad.
Losada is a graduate professor in about twenty universities around the world, author of several books and fifty articles and a consultant in communication and image.
The two runners-up from 100 euros each-went to the abaranero José F. Gil García, retired teacher of institute, graduate in Literature and Language and collaborator in several magazines, and the Murcian José Luis Valdés Belmar, pediatrician and winner of the XIV Hemingway Prize (prestigious French bullfighting contest).
The selected works, titled A newspaper under the arm and Cuéntala, Carmina, respectively, will also be published in La Verdad.
The first edition of this national contest, which also has the collaboration of the Headquarters of University Extension of Abarán (UMU), has been on the world of journalism in honor of who gives name to the contest.
To this first call has presented fifty unpublished stories from different parts of the Spanish geography (Madrid, Alicante, Cordoba, Gerona, Barcelona, ​​Jaca, etc.), with important participation of authors from the Region of Murcia, six of they of Abarán.
Among the contestants are teachers, journalists, doctors and friends of Pedro Soler, his youth and maturity.
The jury was composed of the official chronicler of Abarán, José Carrasco, and journalists José García Martínez, José Carreres, Manuel Madrid, María Soler and Encarna Yelo.
All of them agreed to highlight the high quality of the stories received and predicted a long life at this event, one of the few on journalistic issues.

The awards ceremony will take place next Tuesday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m., at the Don José Vargas de Abarán Municipal Library, located in the CIMA Building.
The act is expected to attend the mayor of Abarán, Jesús Gómez Montiel;
the councilors of Culture of Abarán incoming and outgoing, Felipe José García Carrillo and Francisco Javier Fernández Carrasco, respectively;
the director of the Cajamurcia Foundation, Pascual Martínez Ortiz and members of the jury, as well as the award-winning authors.
Natural of Abarán
Official chronicler of the city of Murcia, art critic and journalist linked to the Culture section of the newspaper La Verdad, Pedro Soler - who died last November - was very loved in his native town, Abarán, which is why the City Council of this town has launched the current initiative to keep his memory alive and encourage literary creation.
