The Noria Grande de Abaran was last restored in 2016, finishing its rehabilitation works at the end of September 2016. The video that we attached was recorded by our colleague Jesús Joaquín López Moreno on October 2, 2016, before its subsequent opening.
Here is the result of the previous rehabilitation:
- Many of the buckets lost water before they reached the pour point in the lift channel.
Many of the buckets that raised water did so without sufficient capacity to pour into the collection channel.
Appreciate how the water falls from the buckets behind said channel and, appreciate, as ascending buckets lose water by not being sufficiently sealed with the tongue and groove pine wood (the same that they are placing).
- After this fudge, they were put polyurethane to seal them and that at the opening everyone would raise water.
- The materials with which they built the buckets in 2016 are the same that they are using these days to rehabilitate the Big Wheel.
This is stated in our report to Cultural Assets (09/18/19) and this has been said by the Cultural Assets technician in counter-report to La Carrahila (09/19/19):
"The heritage law obliges the repair of assets of cultural interest (BIC) to its previous state using, for repair, if possible, materials identical to the initial ones, so in the repair of the ferris wheel wood is being used Pine The pine wood used in the repair is resistant class C-27 and structural quality ME-1, with mechanical properties that make it suitable for use in outdoor and submerged environments. This wood is "tongue and groove", for better installation and durability. "
- Immediately, in 2016, La Carrahila informed the Historical Heritage Service of the CARM, who appeared to try to solve this fudge.
From the Cultural Association "La Carrahila" we have already warned that this situation can be repeated.
WE ARE IN TIME TO RECTIFY.
Note: this action does not go against the city council (some have said so), it is an action against some works that have to be supervised by Cultural Assets of the CARM.
WE HAVE ACTED SO THAT THIS IS NOT REPEATED AGAIN.
We are very calm by the writing to Cultural Assets of the CARM of last Wednesday and the subsequent statement to warn of the deficiencies in the rehabilitation works of the Noria Grande.
The objective was, and still is, to rectify before the company finishes the work, so that the BIC hydraulic device is restored as it deserves.
