On the occasion of the first project activity EPAct Generations Abarán People's Party, Wednesday was a talk on the environment, desertification and water savings.

In his presentation, Fernandez said that Murcia has 1,100,000 hectares, of which 550,000 are forested areas and of which 330,000 hectares are wooded mass.
With these figures Murcia is above the average for other European regions, in forest areas.
He gave a brief overview of landscapes of Murcia from the steppes of the Altiplano to the wetlands of Mar Menor, Murcia has an enviable wealth of landscapes.
It also stated that this Department has achieved a balance between conservation, development and exploitation of these natural areas.
Proof of this is the plant biomass of the Altiplano and the project of creating one for the area Abarán and Cieza.
Murcia has twice as Special Protection Areas for birds (SPAs) that the other European regions, plus a high density of protected species.
We have eight regional parks, nine natural areas and 45% of protected forest area.
This protection and sustainable development is fully compatible with the enjoyment of these spaces by citizens while ensuring the conservation of natural areas.
Then, speaking Miguel Angel Ródenas, Director General of Water, I talk about water resources and water scarcity in the region of Murcia.
Rodenas said territory Murcia represents 3% of Spain and yet in this region will perform 20% of exports of fruits and vegetables.
Murcia needs of the Tajo-Segura is a work for life.
Is an infrastructure for drinking three million people and 150,000 hectares of irrigated land.

Without water we can not live, Murcia has a structural deficit of water, for which the Popular Party government developed a water plan to address water shortages in the area of Levante.
This plan contained the Tajo-Segura transfer, the transfer from the Ebro to the regions of Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia and Almeria.
Ródenas called for the repeal of the Ebro transfer as a "dictatorship of water" a summary decree, without consulting the affected areas, improvised and everything to fulfill an election commitment.
