The rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Orihuela, and the mayor of Abarán, Jesus Molina, today signed an agreement for the implementation in this municipality a permanent place of university extension.
The agreement, which was signed at a ceremony held at the Rector of the University of Murcia, in this office collects the development of training and promotion of culture and sport will be promoted.
The headquarters will be led by Professor of the Faculty of Education Saorín Jesus Molina, who has said the Vice Chancellor of Education and Innovation, Pedro Miralles, as the architect of this initiative is "to bring the University to the inhabitants of the municipality."
Miralles, meanwhile, referred to in Abarán are already 16 towns in the region with permanent extension of the UMU;
"In the last two years we have multiplied by eight the number of seats", he stated.
For the mayor, the project, plus a necessary investment, it is an opportunity for the people of Abarán, "thanks to the University of Murcia, have a place to develop what they have inside."
Finally, the rector Orihuela has spoken of the "obligation" and "challenge" that has the UMU with municipalities committed to the culture and the transformation that brings knowledge.
