The fifth edition of the Livestock March for the Livestock Road of Abarán will take place on Sunday, December 18, organized as usual by associationsLa Carrahila, Ecologistas en Acción y Caramucel.
The hour and meeting point for the march will be at 10 am in the Abrevadero de Las Pilas, located in the Municipal Park of Abarán, next to the river Segura and the passage of what is the Royal Glen of the Sierra del Oro. This point will start the itinerary that will also be run by the Colada de Cartagena and Corral de Lorenzo, where the cattle of José "El Pelado" will be incorporated from the Colada de la Cuna, and then continue towards the Charreria and Rambla From Benito, until reaching the Abrevadero and rest of Cueva Salmerón, at the confluence with the Coladas of Patrax, Barranco de la Sabina and Los Secos and Poza Frasco, already in the environs of the Mountain range of the Gold, ZEPA space and Red Natura 2000 The march will stop in some places where the guides will talk about the most relevant aspects from the historical - cultural and environmental point of view, in relation to the traditional uses and those related to the livestock routes and their conservation.
The route is easy and suitable for all public, the round trip is made in just over 5 km.
At the end of the activity the attendees will be able to enjoy a meal in the Municipal Park, which will be cooked right there, with a contribution of € 3 per plate.

With this activity, the organizers intend to disseminate in a practical way the use and heritage values ​​of livestock routes, but also draw the attention of the competent administration, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, to adopt measures for conservation and improvement of These ancient cattle ranches of public use, above all start the procedures to go demarcating and progressively staining the cattle routes of the municipality of Abarán and the rest of the Ricote Valley.
They also ask local governments to conceive livestock routes as protected land, which are priority for livestock traffic, but also as well managed spaces, may be suitable for ecological and cultural tourism, where the Supplementary Uses take place With temperate in the Law 3/1995 of Livestock Routes.
In this area, these associations are committed to support the development of this double aspect of natural spaces: cultural heritage and tourist-economic heritage.
