A new plant will supply natural gas to the urban center of Abarán through a pipeline network, thus supplying more than 13,000 residents of the municipality.

The project, which was presented today at a ceremony held at the town hall, will be developed by Redexis Gas, one of the leading companies dedicated to the development and operation of natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines in Spain, Of three million euros to bring natural gas to Abarán.

The distribution of natural gas to the municipality will be carried out from a satellite LNG plant in which a deposit of 30 m3 would initially be installed, and its expansion is planned with a second deposit of the same characteristics when consumption requirements so require.

Thanks to this infrastructure, which is expected to start this summer, more than 13,000 inhabitants and about 2,000 homes, businesses and small industries will have access to natural gas, a clean and efficient source of energy.

The director of Energy and Industrial and Mining Activity, Esther Marín, who attended the presentation of the project with the mayor of Abarán, Jesus Molina, and the delegate of Redexis Gas in the Region, Pedro Santos, said that this initiative is part of The Energy Plan 2016-2020 and that it is "a measure of support to the energy infrastructures".

He also said that the objective of the project, shared by the regional government, is "to allow access to different energy sources, in this case natural gas, which is much cleaner than other conventional sources."

More than 1,400,000 homes have gas supply

Redexis Gas continues to be the main driver of the distribution of piped gas in the Region of Murcia, where last year invested 32.1 million euros.

Of these, 12 were dedicated to the development of new natural gas distribution facilities and the rest to the purchase of propane gas assets from Repsol in numerous towns.

The company has recently deployed more than 60 kilometers of new distribution networks, allowing 1,400,000 homes, businesses and industries to already enjoy the supply of piped gas.
