On the occasion of the II Abarán Conference: capital of the care pharmacy, organized by the Spanish Society of Family and Community Pharmacy (SEFAC), with the collaboration of Abarán City Council.
During the conference, the ceremony to deliver the first edition of the 'SEFAC Awards Mylan Foundation for Health to the improvement of therapeutic adherence through the use of SPD in Spanish community pharmacies' took place.
The program of the meeting includes a debate among the main political parties on the role of the community pharmacy in the health system.
Volunteer pharmacists will offer the population different professional pharmaceutical services (smoking, photoprotection, proper use of medicines, diabetes, blood pressure, etc.) in the Paseo de la Ermita de Abarán.
The town of Abarán in Murcia is hosting the 2nd Abarán Conference on 24 and 25 November: capital of the healthcare pharmacy, organized by the Spanish Society of Family and Community Pharmacy (SEFAC).
In these days, which have the collaboration of the City of Abarán, SEFAC has gathered more than 300 community pharmacists from throughout the Region of Murcia and the rest of Spain, as well as representatives of other scientific societies (doctors, nursing, etc. .) and the health sector in general (universities, hospitals, patient associations, etc.) to discuss the approach to chronicity and the improvement of patients' therapeutic adherence.
The conference has started today Friday at the Teatro Cervantes, which has hosted round tables and discussions in which there has been discussion on multidisciplinary collaboration to improve the comprehensive approach to chronicity, and that have had the participation of medical representatives, pharmacists and patient associations.
Likewise, the use of customized dosing systems (SPD) has been discussed as a tool for the improvement of therapeutic adherence in polymedicated patients.
In addition, the first edition of the SEFAC Foundation Mylan Awards for Health was awarded to the improvement of therapeutic adherence through the use of SPD in Spanish community pharmacies.
The awards, articulated around two categories (experiences and real cases), recognize the work of those health professionals who work to improve the health of patients who need several medications.
The scientific program of the conference also includes, on Saturday 25, a debate between the main political parties on the role of community pharmacy in the health system.
This colloquium has the participation of Domingo Coronado, PP deputy and president of the Health Commission of the Regional Assembly of Murcia;
Consuelo Cano, spokesperson of the PSOE in the Health Commission;
Juan José Molina, spokesperson for Citizens in the Health Commission, and Mª Ángeles García, spokesperson for Podemos.
The days are completed with a Walk of Health in the Paseo de la Ermita de Abarán, in which pharmacists volunteers will offer to the population from 11.00 different professional pharmaceutical services to the population (smoking, photoprotection, proper use of medicines , diabetes, blood pressure, etc.).
