The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Abarán, Jesus Molina, inaugurated today tank storms in the lower area of ​​the municipality, which, in addition to capturing rainwater, regulate the flow variations and avoid excessive specific inputs of water, especially during periods of heavy rain in the town.
This infrastructure will regulate the flow regime and pollution that drift into the treatment plant.
Also, it will intercept the first rainwater falls carrying pollution from the streets, to be subsequently treated in sewage and can be reused.
The investment in the storm tank is 545,718 euros, funded 80 percent by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union, and includes a network of collectors about one kilometer in length, scuppers and additional thrust, which will intended to serve as rolling device of unitary system in rainy periods, thus avoiding overflow of these collectors and discharge to public.
Cerda said that the town of Abarán "has a network of sanitation unit which also pass rainwater to reach the Segura River Avenue, causing flooding of the road in various sections".
The Minister of Agriculture stressed that this infrastructure represents a "more advanced" stage in integrated water management of municipalities.
He stressed that "it is a priority of the regional government be referenced in water management, and here we are putting our effort."
