The Councillors for Women, Children and Family and Local Development, Employment and Youth conducted during the 07-08 school year an innovative program entitled "Project on Prevention of Social Risk in Children and Adolescents" aimed at pupils in Primary and Secondary Education .
The objective of this project is to promote a series of poses to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence, healthy eating habits, gender or social skills in order to prevent deviant behavior or social integration problems.
The project, conducted in schools in the municipality since the school year 05-06, is based on different lines of action according to the ages of students.
Primary Education has conducted workshops for Coexistence and Tolerance with the completion of the activity "Healthy Lunch" which complemented the Healthy Eating workshop.
This activity has been to provide alternative food during recess to replace the industrial bakery and snack (fruit, cereal, juice or yoghurt).
The Task Force that developed the program made by a social worker (Ana Maria Soler) and four educators (Ana Cristina Carrasco, Pilar González, Rosa Julia Saorin and Lourdes), notes that this measure has been well received for its innovation and promoter to good food.
Secondary Education has conducted workshops for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, bullying and social skills, drug prevention, eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia) or affective-sexual relations.
Generically have developed within Prevention Program other workshops for young people between 6 and 16: Crafts, Cabezudos and Kitchen.
Finally, within the Project has conducted a thorough quantitative study to address the problem of truancy.
In short, a program that has had the excellent performance of students and teachers and the departments will start again for next year 08-09.
