The Department of Agriculture and Environment has begun a campaign to collect signatures against the Segura river tubing in order to request the Ministry of Environment to stop the project of piping of the Segura river flows and to consider options to ensure the water quality without harming the natural values of our river.

Abarán City Council is opposed to this initiative through a campaign to collect signatures and seeking social support abaraneros since, according to Councillor for Agriculture, Federico García Montiel, this support is essential to raise awareness among officials of the Ministry the seriousness of this action: "The River Segura is a hallmark of irreplaceable including tourism, economic and leisure."

The Councillor for Agriculture, Federico García Montiel, said that the casing of the river is reflected in a draft package of measures which includes the former National Hydrological Plan Act, and that is to channel water from the reservoir of "The Cenajo" to the location of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Channel Commonwealth Taibilla in Villanueva.

From tomorrow begins a campaign to collect signatures in the municipal market Abarán and Sunday, the stand of the platform is moved up-market La Hoya del Campo.
