The Ministry of Agriculture and Water will invest 3.4 million euros in expanding Abarán treatment plant that the plant will provide tertiary treatment system.
This project will restore 1.5 hectometres of water per year with "the highest quality and transparency" for agricultural de la Vega Alta del Segura, announced today the head of this department, Antonio Cerda.
The counselor gave Murcia Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez, the proposed expansion of municipal sewage treatment plant designed for a treatment capacity of 4,500 cubic meters per day.
Cerda said that this project is part of "the environmental recovery of the Segura river" and said the results will provide "a clean, transparent and with maximum safety conditions."
He added that "we are applying the most advanced water treatment, exceeding that established the European directives on this matter, which puts us in the levels of excellence for water regeneration."
He also recalled that the Region reused 100 percent of its waters, while other basins, such as the Ebro and the Tagus, "retrieved on 5 and 1 percent respectively."
The proposed works will be financed from the funds of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water and the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.
This action is part of the General Plan for Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment in the Region of Murcia, and aims, Cerda said, "give all corners of the region of modern and effective sewage treatment, high treatment capacity and water recovery. "
