April 13, 2009 .- The consul general of Spain in Los Angeles, Inocencio Arias, will give a lecture entitled "Obama, his triumph and us" about the new era Obama and his possible future relations with Spain.
Also during his speech anecdotes and experiences from his time as Ambassador of Spain to the United Nations.
The conference will take place at the Cervantes Theatre on Thursday 16 April at the 21.30hy has been organized by the Ricote Valley Cultural Association, with the collaboration of the Autonomous Region of Murcia.
Inocencio Arias is also a diplomat and lawyer.
He served in the Embassies of Spain in Bolivia, Portugal and Algeria and has participated in numerous international summits and meetings: Rio de Janeiro, Non-Aligned (Jakarta and Havana), Middle East (Madrid), European Union, NATO, Iberoamerican Mexico, Madrid and Santiago Bay and UN Assemblies fourteen times.
While at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he served as Assistant Secretary from 1988 to 1991 with the PSOE government of Felipe González.
The year '91 to '93, he was Secretary of State for Cooperation and Iberomérica Spokesman Felipe Gonzalez and General Director of the Office of Diplomatic Information (OID) on three occasions at three different governments of UCD, PSOE and PP.
Appointed Ambassador of Spain to the United Nations by the Popular Party government of Jose Maria Aznar, he served this position since July 1997 to May 2004.
At that time presided over the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Committee of the Security Council and the Association of Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives of the United Nations.
He is currently the Consul General of Spain in Los Angeles (USA).
