Abarán City Council has approved in Parliament to vote in favor of the three political groups in the constitution of the Commission on Sustainability of Local Agenda 21, an administrative body dedicated to management, information and referral of all initiatives of this agenda.
Besides the plenary adopted in the Ordinary Session held on April 16 the formation of the Municipal Council of Sustainability, a complementary body of the Municipal Organization and the Forum 21, for the promotion of local sustainable development.

The functions of political, technical and administrative Sustainability Committee is to advise and guide municipal environmental policy, to coordinate all initiatives, projects and plans of the Local Agenda 21, to develop and approve proposals for the OPAL and the Council, preparing Council meetings and keep track of municipal environmental policy.
The composition of this Commission is composed of a Chairman (Member-Delegate for the Environment), two technicians, a clerk of the various municipal departments (technical and administrative aspects of the various councils), one of whom shall act as Secretary, two representatives of FORUM 21 (Chairman and Secretary) and a representative from each political party.
Also, the City Council will now inform the municipal environmental groups and organizations represented on the Council, propose initiatives to the Commission and the Opal, assist in the preparation of studies, projects and regulations, discuss and propose solutions to environmental problems, present initiatives and proposals to the Commission and, where appropriate, approved in plenary.
The composition of the board shall consist of a chairman, who is the mayor of the municipality, a vice president (councilor-delegate for the Environment), a general secretary of the Corporation and eleven other members.
Forum 21 is a tool designed for consultation and participation of associations and citizen groups in the discussion of measures for the conservation, protection and protection of the natural and urban setting and will consist of a chairman, secretary and the full board to be open and flexible structure.
