According to the Director of Roads, the new ornamental lighting of the bridge celebrates its original features
The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, attended today's opening of the refurbishment of the metal bridge over the River Segura in Abarán, part of the typical landscape of the town since the late nineteenth century and which has funded the construction project Regional Executive through the Ministry of Public Works and Planning.
The ceremony was also attended by the local mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez.
The bridge was reinforced in early last century with lower braces that give it its current appearance and make it unique in the region.
The performance, Guijarro said, "has served to restore the splendor of a bridge built in the late nineteenth century and where the original features have been extolled through the ornamental lighting."
As indicated by the general director, "as provided for the construction project, funded by the regional government, has reinstated the original railing that was removed for repair, with the aim of preserving the character of a single infrastructure in the Region which is part of the idiosyncrasy of the landscape that gives access to Abarán. "
In addition, works have led to withdraw and divert services affecting the bridge, mainly the water line that supplies the neighborhood of the Virgen del Oro in the municipality.
